In 2002 Rick Chiarelli, Mayor Bob Chiarelli, Georges Bedard, Michel Bellemare, Alex Cullen, Clive Doucet, Peggy Feltmate,
Diane Holmes, Peter Hume,Jacques Legendre, Janet Stavinga Rainer Bloess, Glenn Brooks, Diane Deans Jan Harder, Gord Hunter,
Doug Thompson, Eli El-Chantiry, Rob Jellett, Shawn Little, Maria McRae as candidates for city councillor in the 2003 municipal
elections in Ottawa made a promise to our community to support a ban on pesticides. A promise that would protect our babies,
and teenagers, and reduce risk of harm to expecting mothers. The pesticide's being sprayed were found to be harmful to our
children and ourselves. Our community wanted a pesticide bylaw put in action if by 2005 there was no reduction in pesticides.
After being voted into city council Rainer Bloess, Glenn Brooks, Diane Deans Jan Harder, Gord Hunter, Doug Thompson, Eli
El-Chantiry, Rob Jellett, Shawn Little, Maria McRae and Rick Chiarelli backed off and reneged on their promise to us and our
children by refusing to support the ban on pesticides.
